Reviews and Ratings
The hotel is in a convenient location for touring Scotland, placed perfectly between John O'Groats and Wick. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, but the shared bathroom and toilet setup felt a bit outdated. The service was pleasant, though not overly engaging. The dining experience was enjoyable, especially with helpful staff accommodating our early schedule. The hotel provides a nice base for exploring the 500 mile coastal route, close to John O'Groats and Gill's Bay.
The hotel is okay and clean, facing the main street in the village with a blinking streetlight outside the window, but it didn't interfere with my sleep. The rooms come with a nice breakfast, and the heater facilities were clean and beds comfortable. The service was welcoming and attentive, making me feel like coming back for a short break. The location is perfect for exploring part of the 500-mile coastal route and only 7 miles from John O'Groats. The dining options were good and varied until 09.00, with some local meats available, though continental breakfast was poor. The hotel provides a rich breakfast prepared at the moment, with a pub in the basement open until late. The facilities were well-maintained, and the price was worth the value for the hospitality received.
Despite sharing a room with another guest, the hotel offers clean, comfortable, and warm accommodations that may not bother guests who are out all day. The service was excellent, and despite a delayed start, the staff was very helpful. The location, while needing some maintenance outside, is advantageous for travelers heading to Orkney and offers nice breakfast and heater facilities. The dining experience, though needing improvement in timing for ferry travelers, provides a room with a private bathroom and breakfast. Overall, the hotel provides a mix of positives and negatives worth considering.
